My teaching philosophy is grounded in the view that learning is a lifelong and personal quest. It is the learner that is at the centre of the learning process and everything else - books, schools and teachers - merely serve to facilitate that process. Recognising that there are many ways of knowing and learning and the limitations of structured learning environments and processes, my view of my role as a teacher is not to fill the heads of students with all that they need to know about the subject but to point out signposts, stopovers and landmarks that have been helpful and important in my own journey, keeping in mind that their journey may lead them to a different direction and perhaps further than where my own has taken me.
