Pitre has over 35 years’ experience working in high performance sport. He is currently working as the High Performance Manager with the Adelaide Thunderbirds netball team. Between 2009 and 2018 he worked as the Head of Research and Quality Assurance at ASPIRE Academy in Doha, Qatar. About me
Pitre has over 35 years’ experience working in high performance sport. He is currently working as the High Performance Manager with the Adelaide Thunderbirds netball team. Between 2009 and 2018 he worked as the Head of Research and Quality Assurance at ASPIRE Academy in Doha, Qatar. Prior to this he worked for 25 years at the South Australian Sports Institute as their Sport Science Manager and as an Applied Sport Scientist. All these roles have helped Pitre establish a strong international reputation in sport science, both from a servicing standpoint in the preparation of elite athletes, including numerous world champions and Olympic medallists, and as an applied researcher. Additionally, Pitre has served on numerous national sport science research and education committees and has won several service awards.
Pitre’s research interests are diverse and include; athlete load monitoring, the effects of altitude/hypoxia on performance, the development of athlete assessment protocols, the application of blood lactate thresholds in endurance sports, total haemoglobin mass determination, anti-doping, adolescent athletes, talent identification strategies and the physiology of team sports. His research has always been applied with direct links to improving athlete monitoring or enhancing performance, and has resulted in his authorship on over 70 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters.
