Rachel commenced her career as a social worker, working with children and young people who were in supported care facilities and at risk of homelessness due to neglect, abuse, mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic violence, and a further array of trauma-based issues. Her experience extends to placements undertaken at Kurlana Tapa (formally known as Cavan Training Centre). Rachel then joined South Australia Police, as a police officer, in which she specialised in the Family and Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit. About me
Rachel commenced her career as a social worker, working with children and young people who were in supported care facilities and at risk of homelessness due to neglect, abuse, mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic violence, and a further array of trauma-based issues. Her experience extends to placements undertaken at Kurlana Tapa (formally known as Cavan Training Centre). Rachel then joined South Australia Police, as a police officer, in which she specialised in the Family and Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit. Throughout her policing career she has been given many opportunities to work in a variety of areas, from a general duty first responder through to an in-court prosecutor. Rachel completed her Master in Teaching (Primary) and has begun teaching as a relief teacher in schools across Adelaide.
Rachel commenced her PhD in 2021 with UniSA and the Australian Centre for Child Protection, focusing on the statutory and non-statutory roles and responses of police when responding to children displaying harmful sexual behaviours. One of the main aims is investigating therapeutic diversionary pathways that will contribute to prevention, early intervention, and diversion from the justice system for children displaying harmful sexual behaviours.
