Ms Rebekah O'Shea

Currently working with Alex Brown, Professor of Population Health and Research Chair Aboriginal Health within the School of Population Health, Rebekah contributes to the conduct of a number of research activities, working closely with members of the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) Wardliparingga Aboriginal Research Unit. Rebekah’s primary focus is in providing support to Professor Brown for the ENHANCED project on the psychosocial determinants of cardiovascular disease in Indigenous peoples. Rebekah has varied experience in research within the health and medical field. After starting her career in Microbiology research laboratories at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Rebekah went on to work in Biochemistry laboratories at the University of Adelaide, before expanding her health experience in cardiovascular Pharmaceutical Representative and Senior Scientific Affairs roles within the Pharmaceutical industry. She has most recently worked at Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute as a Research Associate where she assisted in development of essential service standards for cardiovascular care of Indigenous populations as well as contributed to projects on value consideration of pharmacogenomic targeting in oncology and cardiovascular fields. Rebekah has completed a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Adelaide and is currently completing a Master of Public Health at the University of Adelaide.
