My Role
As the manager of the Learning and Teaching Systems team, I am responsible for the delivery of business services that relate to the key areas of teaching and learning within the University. My role requires me to:
- Lead and manage a team of skilled software developers
- Liaise with key business units to gather requirements, design, develop, test and support required software applications for staff and students
- Assess emerging technologies and software for suitable use within the University environment
- Ensure systems meet specific accessibility and usability requirements
- Contribute to the planning and budgeting of key software services
- Provide input into strategic planning and governance structures
- Manage small to large projects
- Ensure monitoring and high availability of the University’s learning and teaching systems
- Manage relationships with external vendors as required
Team Responsibilities
The Learning and Teaching Systems team is responsible for the design, development and long-term support of the critical software and services that support the University’s online learning environment, including:
- The learning management system (Moodle) that delivers online courses to students, while managing and keeping track of their progress and performance across all types of learning activities
- Media repositories to house, catalogue and stream the University’s video and audio files
- A central system to provide essential information about courses, programs, student and their level of online engagement through a series of comprehensive learning analytic reports and a customisable dashboard
- The student portal, a system that provides personal information, integrated data and links to all systems a student requires
- Management of Zoom to facilitate collaborative online engagement for online students
- A comprehensive ePortfolio that allows users to record and share evidence of lifelong learning
- A course outline system that allows the creation of a formal document that describes the content that will be available within a specific course
- A course and teacher evaluation system that allows students the ability to provide feedback on instructors and their courses-Other systems that support learning and teaching
- The UniSA Student App that provides critical information to students such as upcoming classes, assessments, course information and the ability to book study rooms.
