About me
I am the current Program Director for one of the leading Podiatry Programs in Australia, based at the University of South Australia. I am a lecturer, researcher and practicing podiatrist with an interest in Clinical Biomechanics, Motor Control and Musculoskeletal disorders. Since graduating I have worked in both rural and urban settings, once providing remote podiatry services to over 70% of the state of South Australia, working as the Senior Podiatrist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and then Manager of Podiatry at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. I completed a PhD investigating the role of dexterity in scalpel skill learning amongst podiatry students. Since then I have been involved in multiple research projects, including investigating soft tissue changes in Diabetes, the use of antimicrobial dressings in chronic wounds, assessment of students undertaking work integrated learning, and brain-related changes affecting the foot in Diabetes. I have published 3 book chapters and more than 23 peer-reviewed articles. I have supervised 1 Masters and 9 Honours students to completion and is currently supervising 3 PhD, 2 Masters and 2 Honours students.
My research experience covers a diverse range of areas from the neuroscience of motor learning to biomechanics, musculoskeletal disorders and diabetes-related foot complications.
