About me
Dr. Sanjaya Kuruppu is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting, the Director of the UniSA-Yunus Social Business Centre, and the Lead Research Degree Coordinator for UniSA Business.
He has taught subjects ranging from Management Accounting, Strategic Financial Analysis, Corporate Social Responsibility and International Business. He has extensive teaching experience working at the University of Canterbury and the University of Adelaide prior to joining the University of South Australia in 2015.
Sanjaya researches the accountability and governance of organisations, focusing on two key domains: corporate sustainability reporting and NGO accountability. He also researches new technology, such as blockchain (and triple-entry accounting) and Internet-of-Things devices, and how these affect both his key domains of research. His research has been published in top-tier accounting and business journals including Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, The British Accounting Review, Journal of Business Research, Business, Strategy and the Environment, and Meditari Accountancy Research.
Sanjaya has worked in both private sector and not-for-profit settings, so his research has a practical emphasis with a number of consulting reports arising from his research shaping the organisations he has studied. His research has also received external and internal university grant funding including from the Accounting Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
External contribution has also been a paramount concern. Sanjaya is the Partnership Manager for Wisdom Business Academy and CIMA. He also sits on the Editorial Boards of the highly-regarded accounting discipline journals Meditari Accountancy Research and Accounting Forum. Sanjaya has provided longstanding mentorship of young achievers in AIESEC, an international student leadership organisation, and serves on Kathleen Lumley Residential College's Finance Committee.
