About me
As a Research Associate in Data Analytics within the STEM unit at the University of South Australia (UniSA), I bring a solid foundation in computer science, pattern recognition, and data science. Earning my PhD in Data Science from UniSA in 2021 was a milestone that launched my exciting academic path. My research is driven by a passion for developing and applying advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence technology to tackle a variety of real-world challenges. My expertise lies in anomaly detection in various fields, imagery analysis, and time series analysis. A highlight of my career includes the use of AI onboard for fire smoke detection via satellite imagery and the prediction of epileptic seizures using long-term intracranial EEG recordings. I also have extensive project experience in the wireless communication sector, where I have contributed to over 26 patents, merging creativity with practical skills in my professional approach.
With more than 20 years in the IT industry, focusing on computer science and data science, I have a robust background that predates my academic career. Before joining the university, I worked over a decade as a software engineer and project manager in a top IT company. My expertise extends to software development in mainstream programming languages such as Python, R, C, and C++ of large-scale projects. As a project manager, I have honed skills in effectively balancing the critical elements of cost, scope, and time, while also excelling in areas such as quality management, risk management, resource management, stakeholder communication, and team leadership and development. My adeptness in leading teams is evident in my experience managing groups of varying sizes, from small teams to those exceeding a thousand members, further solidifying my leadership capabilities and project management acumen.
