Ms Shannen van der Kruk is a health researcher, with a broad interest in improving the health and well-being of people in the community and contributing to the greater wellbeing of society. She is particularly interested in understanding and addressing the health and well-being of people affected by cancer, and how we can better support cancer patients and survivors at each stage of their cancer journey, from diagnosis, to treatment, survivorship, and palliative care.

About me
Ms Shannen van der Kruk is a health researcher, with a broad interest in improving the health and well-being of people in the community and contributing to the greater wellbeing of society. She is particularly interested in understanding and addressing the health and well-being of people affected by cancer, and how we can better support cancer patients and survivors at each stage of their cancer journey, from diagnosis, to treatment, survivorship, and palliative care.
Shannen moved to Australia and started working as a Research Assistant after completing her BSc, majoring in Prevention and Health, and MSc (by Research) in Health Sciences/ Epidemiology at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. She currently works in the Department of Rural Health at the University of South Australia and provides research support to the research activities undertaken by the department. Current research topics Shannen is involved in, include the health and mental health of (fire-affected) farmers, the development, delivery and evaluation of web- and telephone-based support interventions for rural people, and the education of (cancer) patients through the use of virtual reality.
