About me
Stan Astachnowicz has worked in, and consulted to, all levels of business education for almost 40 years. The vast majority spent in Higher Education, in both public University and private Higher Education institutions.
Stan is a multiple national award nominated university lecturer and curriculum writer in his discipline of accounting. His specific educational interest is in making financial literacy more accessible to non-accountants both through better teaching and learning, and in preparing consultant accountants to communicate more effectively with their non-accountant clients. His approach has ensured that his skills have been widely in demand from in-house training through to Executive MBA levels of business education. He has been an agent of change through his consultancy work, having assisted the SA Department of Health in the conversion of their accounting systems and having worked with the precursor to the SACE Board in the co-writing of the inaugural Accounting curriculum for the South Australian Certificate of Education.
Stan has been responsible for a number of MBA Capstone and other industry applied post graduate student project supervisions. Aside from innovative teaching and curriculum, Stan has also been directly involved in facilitating global access to business education, having served as Program Director for numerous Graduate and Undergraduate Business Programs operating in a variety of countries and in partnership with an array of foreign tertiary education providers. His global focus saw him serve a term as UniSA Business’s Director: International, and as Chair of the Australian Business Deans Council International Network. Stan has also served as a Head of School. He has published in the area of Business Education and has presented at conferences in Business Education and International Education.
Through his various roles, Stan has demonstrated an applied and entrepreneurial view of his role as a business educator. As well as being a teacher of business, he has consistently been involved in the “business” of business teaching - designing, reviewing and managing high quality business programs for global markets, and negotiating numerous institutional partnerships and successful accreditations with government higher education authorities across the world.
The purpose of this has been to provide ever better and internationally transferable business education opportunities for students.
Stan currently plies his international focus and bent for innovative business education curriculum as the Program Director of UniSA’s Global Executive MBA (Defence and Space), facilitating a fresh perspective on leadership in key global industries.
