Stuart's research focuses on screen-based creative industries and queer screen media. His first monograph, The Queer Film Festival: Popcorn & Politics, is published as part of Palgrave Macmillan’s ‘Framing Film Festivals’ series, which looks at the queer film festival as a social enterprise and its growth in the creative industries. His research has been published in established journals, such as Senses of Cinema, New Review of Film & Television, Media International Australia and Studies in Australasian Cinema, and in emerging publications, such as Queer Studies in Media & Popular Culture. About me

He is a member of the Creative People, Products and Places (CP3) Research Centre.
Prior to joining the University of South Australia in 2019, he taught screen, media and cultural studies subjects at the University of Melbourne and RMIT University. At RMIT University he received a commendation for Outstanding Sessional Teaching in Higher Education for bridging the realms of industry and academia while providing students a structured, inclusive learning environment.
