About me
I am an Enterprise Fellow in Pharmacy within Clinical and Health Sciences at the University of South Australia, and adjunct Associate Professor at the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE), UTS Sydney. Using an overarching health economics and policy lens, I have developed a diverse and vibrant research program that aims to improve health, especially among disadvantaged populations through better use of high-value medicines for non-communicable diseases.
Prior to joining UniSA, I was an NHMRC Early Career Fellow (2016-2021), Associate Professor at CHERE, UTS, and a senior research fellow at The George Institute for Global Health and at the University of Sydney, and an honorary postdoctoral research fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada. I have a PhD from The University of Sydney and have worked as a clinical pharmacist in the hospital and community pharmacy settings as well as in pharmaceutical industry.
I specialise in health economics, drug utilisation and pharmaceutical policy research and use a variety of robust quantitative and qualitative research methods. I am a member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) economics subcommittee and drug utilisation subcommittee, the NSW Clinical Excellence Commission Statewide Medicine Formulary Committee and High Cost Medicine Sub-committee, and the Professional Advisory Council of Asthma Australia.
As an avid learner and curious soul, my research interests are broad. I currently supervise students investigating a range of topics from the use of surrogate outcomes to support drug reimbursement decisions to the role of health care providers in supporting modern day slaves. I have a particular interest in global health and pharmaceutical policy.
I am passionate about supporting early career academics to thrive personally and professionally. To that end, I am an accredited coach and also mentor early career researchers.
