X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS, lab and synchrotron); Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS); Scanning Auger spectroscopy; Micro-CT; X-ray absorption spectroscopies (NEXAFS, XANES, EXAFS); SEM/TEM; Micropobe-XRF/XANES, and others. Synchrotron facilities used: Australian Synchrotron; NSRRC (Taiwan); ELETTRA (Trieste, Italy); APS (Chicago, USA); ALADDIN (UWisconsin, USA), and others.
