Professor Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a PhD in Politics from Murdoch University. His research focuses on the socio-economic and political transformations driven by globalisation and regionalism. His work has been widely published in leading academic journals such as International Business Review, International Marketing Review, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Contemporary Asia, Management Decision, International Journal of Bank Marketing, and Asia Pacific Business Review. His publications also appear with prominent academic publishers including Routledge (Taylor & Francis), Oxford University Press, Edward Elgar, and the London Financial Times.

In addition to his academic contributions, Professor Lee has extensive experience advising both private and public sector stakeholders on international business environments, policy issues, and political and economic engagement in contemporary Asia. He served as President of the Korean Studies Association of Australasia (KSAA) from 2011 to 2015 and was a Board Member of the Australia-Korea Business Council (AKBC) until 2024.
He is also actively involved in various professional associations, including the European Association of Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE), the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE), and the Australia-New Zealand International Business Academy (ANZIBA).
