About me
I am a Registered and Endorsed Midwife with a strong commitment to providing respectful, evidence-based, and woman-centred care across the continuum of pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Midwifery from the University of South Australia in 2017 and completing my graduate year in 2018, I have worked in both public and private hospital settings. My clinical practice spans the full scope of midwifery, including antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, special care nursery, and Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) models.
Over the years, I have developed particular skill and interest in supporting physiological birth, including experience in home birth, water birth, and perineal suturing. I am also an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (2024), which complements my midwifery care by enabling me to provide in-depth, practical support for breastfeeding and early infant feeding challenges. As an Endorsed Midwife, I hold prescribing rights and can offer Medicare-rebatable services, supporting accessible and comprehensive continuity of care.
My academic background includes a Graduate Certificate in Perinatal Mental Health (2019, UniSA) and a Master of Primary Maternity Care (2022, Griffith University), both of which have informed my holistic and trauma-aware approach to clinical practice. These studies have deepened my understanding of how midwives can advocate for respectful, relationship-based care even within the context of system pressures and clinical complexity.
Since 2023, I have also worked as an academic at the University of South Australia. In this role, I teach and support midwifery students to critically engage with their learning and develop the confidence, knowledge, and ethical grounding needed for contemporary practice. My academic focus is on complexity in pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period, with a particular interest in how midwives can continue to provide woman-centred care during acute, emergency, or high-risk situations. I am especially passionate about bereavement care and equipping future midwives to support women and families with compassion and clinical confidence during experiences of loss.
My practice is also informed by global and cross-cultural perspectives. As a student, I had the opportunity to undertake a placement at Vinh Long Hospital in Vietnam, where I gained insight into different models of care, resource limitations, and the universal power of respectful midwifery support. This experience continues to shape my approach to inclusive and culturally responsive care.
At the heart of my work—whether clinical, educational, or research-based—is a deep respect for the midwifery profession and the people we care for. I believe that midwives are uniquely positioned to provide care that is not only clinically safe but also emotionally supportive, empowering, and grounded in trust. I am dedicated to continuing to grow in both practice and scholarship, and to contributing to a maternity care system that centres the needs, rights, and voices of women and families.
