About me
As Executive Director: UniSA Online Barb is responsible for the operation of UniSA Online, with a particular focus on fostering a customer service culture to continually improve the experience of students and help them achieve their career aspirations. UniSA Online provides a suite of career-focused 100% online degrees and single courses and supports key national and international projects that meet UniSA's strategic ambitions. The online offerings are specifically designed for online learning and are delivered in an engaging and flexible way. The curricula are research and industry informed and delivered through media-rich materials and by specialist academic staff. Courses are offered in 10-week blocks with 4 start dates a year - January, April, June and September. Students can access the online environment and course materials 24/7, all assessments are completed online and academic and support services are available to students out of hours and on weekends.
Barb joined UniSA in 2005 following an extensive clinical career as a Registered Nurse in both public and private healthcare settings. After completing further studies in the area of science, and with a PhD in Medicine, Barb undertook teaching, research and leadership roles in the antecedent Division of Health Sciences until her appointment as the inaugural Academic Director: UniSA Online in 2017 and then as Executive Director:UniSA Online in 2021. Barb has published in the areas of appetite regulation, diabetes and nutrition, clinical assessment and simulation actvities in health, and current research interests include best practices in online education and supporting early career academics. Barb is a Fellow of the Governors Leadership Foundation program (2010 cohort) and on the Register of TEQSA Expert Reviewers.
