After completing my Degrees and PhD at the University of Mainz, Germany, I moved to Adelaide in 2004 to work as a Research Associate (Post-Doc) at the Ian Wark Research Institute (IWRI), University of South Australia for three years, followed by a three year contract as the Facility Manager of ANFF-SA, the South Australian Node of the Australian National Fabrication Facility there. I accepted a position as Metrology Engineer: Coatings in the ophthalmic division of ZEISS in 2010 to gain more industry experience and after some years as a (registered) Seconary Teacher of Maths and Chemistry I returned to UniSA in 2019 and am currently working in the group of Prof Krasimir Vasilev on the fabrication of anti-microbial surfaces.

About me

With over 20 years of laboratory experience, I have gathered extensive knowledge and understanding of a wide spectrum of surface modification and characterisation techniques together with the proficient operation of associated instrumentation/software and developed excellent project management, communication and interpersonal skills through continuous collaboration with people from diverse backgrounds in and outside my respective groups.
