About me
My work focuses on cognitive ageing and cognitive impairments, such as dementia, mild cognitive impairment, and delirium. I lead the Cognitive Ageing and Impairment Neurosciences (CAIN) laboratory with A/Prof Tobias Loetscher, which is part of the BBB Research Centre.
I am particularly interested in cardiometabolic contributions to cognitive ageing, the neurophysiology and neuropsychology of delirium, delirium rehabilitation, and social cognitive ageing. Our lab works with local councils to develop evidence-based dementia education programs for primary school children and wellbeing workshop materials for older adults. I am passionate about equity and diversity in science and am involved in a number of community and school science programs.
I currently hold a NHMRC Ideas Grant (Predicting delirium vulnerability from pre-surgery neurophysiological measures) and a The Hospital Research Foundation Grant (Help After Leaving hospiTal Trial: a co-produced multidisciplinary and tailored intervention to prevent decline after in-hospital delirium). I was President of the Australasian Cognitive Neuroscience Society in 2022 and currently sit on the Australian Academy of Science National Committee for the Brain and Mind. Prior to joining UniSA in 2011, I held post-doctoral positions at the University of Cambridge (2007-11).
