About me
Dr. Hunter Bennett is a Lecturer in Exercise and Sport Science (Allied Health and Human Performance). Hunter completed his PhD in 2020, with his research exploring how movement assessment can help guide exercise prescription, and subsequntly enhance functionally relevant training outcomes.
Prior to this, Hunter completed his degree in Applied Sciences (Human Movement and Health Studies) in 2012, majoring in Sport and Exercise Science. In 2014 he completed a Masters Degree in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning), before undertaking an Honours year that resulted in the development of an aerobic exercise test for active duty fire service personnel. Other areas of interest include all aspects of exercise prescription, with emphasis on modes of training that can elicit functionally relevant outcomes in athletic, healthy, and clinical populations.
Hunter has been teaching at the University of South Australia since 2012. He has taught into Exercise Physiology 1, Functional Anatomy, Exercise Delivery, Foundations in Human Movement, Exercise and Sport Science, and Exercise Prescription (the last two of which he currently coordinates). Additionally, Hunter has authored several peer-reviewed publications, and presented at national and international conferences.
He is currently supervising two PhD, four masters by research, and two honours students, all within the broad realm of Exercise Science.
Outside of work hours you will find him out to brunch consuming copious amounts of coffee with his wife Emma and daugher Astrid, watching Parks and Recreation for the umpteenth time, or lying on the couch with a good book in hand.
