About me
I have a background in physics which has evolved into fields of bio-inorganic chemistry and surface science. This has been motivated by applying physical-chemistry concepts and characterization tools to areas of nanotechnology, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences.
These interests are being used to develop improvements in understanding disease, therapeutic delivery and pharmaceutical products and novel methodologies for extracting quantitative metrics in determining relevant parameters. This has been a balance between basic and applied research with interest in clinical developments for human health and engaging pharma industries.
My research has been highly multidisciplinary and incorporated strong collaborations world wide for which I have greatly enjoyed the cultural exchange as well as exposure to exceptional research. I have conducted research in the USA, Canada, Japan, England, The Netherlands, Taiwan and China. I have been the recipient of 5 visiting scholar positions in Canada (the Canadian Light Source and Western University), Taiwan (Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica) and China (Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences).
I enjoy seeing my research published in high impact journals such as Angewandte Chemie, Small, Chemical Society Reviews, Advanced Materials, the Journal of Controlled Release etc. All up I have over 50 publications including 3 invited book chapters. These are giving rise to rapidly growing citations and an h-index of 19 by PubMed.
Exposure of my work has been given by presentation at over 70 international conference presentations. It is especially recognised by delivering 16 international invited and keynote talks in 8 different countries. The general significance is also demonstrated by being invited twice to represent Australia at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) technical meetings at the UN headquarters in Vienna, Austria.
Other community duties include:
