About me
A/Prof Carson-Chahhoud is an Associate Research Professor/NHMRC Fellow and Lead of the Translational Medicine and Technology Research Group within the Australian Centre for Precision Health. Her broad research interests include translational health research, evidence-based medicine, respiratory health, tobacco avoidance, Aboriginal health, public policy, hospital avoidance, and application of novel technologies such as augmented reality, holographic technology, and virtual reality to improve health outcomes. She is recognised by ExpertScape as being within the top 1% of experts worldwide for 'smoking', she has an H-Index of 28 and her research has been cited in other publications on over 3,500 occasions.
She has extensive experience producing and synthesising evidence through systematic analyses, qualitative participant co-design, implementation science evaluations, and randomised controlled trials. However, she places greater emphasis on what happens to research evidence after it is produced, through the dissemination of information into policy, practice, and for the public. She is also passionate about encouraging the next generation of researchers and making a real-world impact through her research.
A/Prof Carson-Chahhoud is a Board Director for the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, Chairperson of the Research Subcommittee as well as Executive Member of the SA/NT TSANZ Branch. Her contributions to review of scientific research include roles as E2 Ethics Reviewer for the University of South Australia, Journal Editor for both The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapies, and she is regularly invited as a Panel Member for the National Health and Medical Research Council and Medical Research Future Fund.
She has held consecutive NHMRC fellowships, produced 100 peer-reviewed publications, received over two dozen research awards, >$5 million in competitive research funding, and is regularly cited in the media as an expert in respiratory health and tobacco control. A/Prof Carson-Chahhoud currently supervises five post-graduate students (three as primary supervisor) and five Honours students (four as primary supervisor). If you have an interest in undertaking a Ph.D., Masters, or Honours project with A/Prof Carson-Chahhoud, please contact her directly using the details above.
