I received my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Oregon and my PhD at the University of California. My PhD research characterised genes involved in pheromone signalling in fungi.
I joined the University of South Australia in 2004 where I teach courses in microbiology and invertebrate and vertebrate biology.
My research has focused on the genetics of the yeast Saccharomyces and the ecology of fungi in foods/wines and natural systems. A main area of recent interest is the interaction between animals and microbes.
