Her latest book, Modern Slavery in Australia, is the definitive guide to Australia’s modern slavery response including legislative framework and policy developments. Nerida works closely with industry, government and non-governmental organisations to conduct research with real-world impact. She has worked as a consultant with the Australian Institute of Criminology and the Australian Red Cross leading research projects on human trafficking and victim support. In 2023 she cofounded ‘Educating for Change’ a grant-funded project delivering online learning modules to current and future frontline services workers in the disciplines of law, social work, healthcare, education, and university settings. The modules, which raise awareness and knowledge of modern slavery, are now included in student curriculum and staff training at over 30 universities around Australia.
