Research includes perceived exertion, exercise and muscle damage, body composition, assessment of activity, children and exercise science and training for elite sport.
Served on South Australia Metropolitan Fire Service Medical Panel; Honorary member of the Golden Key International Honour Society; Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences; Honorary Professor of Exeter University; Honorary Research Fellow of Hong Kong Baptist University. Served as expert witness in supreme court case on health benefits of exercise across the lifespan. Former consultant physiologist with the British Figure Skating Team and England Rugby Football Union's Young Player Development Pathway Working Group. ; Academic Advisor: Physical Education, Hong Kong Baptist University; Editorial Boards: former member of International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance; Journal of Exercise Science and Fitness; Journal of Sports Sciences, and Pediatric Exercise Science editorial boards; Former member of the MRC College of Experts and Health Research Board; Former member of Executive Group of Australia's Council of Heads of Exercise, Sport and Movement Sciences (CHESMS) and the ESSA Exercise Science Implementation Group.
