Dr Ryan Causby is the previous Program Director for one of the leading Podiatry Programs in Australia, based at the University of South Australia. Dr Causby is a lecturer, researcher and practicing podiatrist. Since graduating he has worked in both rural and urban settings, in private practice and the public sector providing him with the required insight to oversee the training of undergraduate students and to ensure the program meets the needs of the profession.

About me
Dr Ryan Causby is the previous Program Director for one of the leading Podiatry Programs in Australia, based at the University of South Australia. Dr Causby is a lecturer, researcher and practicing podiatrist. Since graduating he has worked in both rural and urban settings, in private practice and the public sector providing him with the required insight to oversee the training of undergraduate students and to ensure the program meets the needs of the profession.
Career highlights include once providing remote podiatry services to over 70% of the state of South Australia (in conjunction with the Royal Flying Doctors), working as the Senior Podiatrist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and then Manager of Podiatry at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Dr Causby has also previously provided much needed services to Aboriginal communities in Australia, to the Nation of Kiribati in the South Pacific and in Cambodia.
Dr Causby has completed a PhD investigating the role of dexterity in scalpel skill learning amongst podiatry students and is currently involved in multiple research projects, including investigating soft tissue changes in Diabetes, decision-making for non-emergency amputations in peope with diabetes, the assessment of students undertaking work integrated learning, and brain-related changes affecting the foot in Diabetes. I have published 5 book chapters and more than 30 peer-reviewed articles. I have supervised 1 PhD, 1 Masters and 10 Honours students to completion and is currently supervising 1 PhD, 2 Masters and 2 Honours students.
Research interests cover a diverse range of areas from the neuroscience of motor learning to biomechanics, musculoskeletal disorders and diabetes-related foot complications.
Dr Causby values has a keen interest in ensuring high quality teaching of Podiatry students and has consequently had roles on panels established for review and accreditation of university programs and has been an assessor for international and return to practice applicants.
Dr Causby is currently a Director of the Australasian College of Podiatry Deans, a representative on Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency’s Education Provider Reference Group and Committee member for the Podiatry Accreditation Committee which reports to the Podiatry Board of Australia.
