Stefanie Dühr is since 2018 Research Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of South Australia. Until February 2023 she also served as the Deputy Director of UniSA's AHURI (Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute) Research Centre.
Stefanie holds a PhD in European spatial planning from the University of the West of England, Bristol (2005), and a ‘Diplom' (Masters) degree in Applied Geography / Spatial Development from the University of Trier (Germany) (1998).

Stefanie Dühr is Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of South Australia. Previously she was Professor of European spatial planning systems at Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Before joining Radboud University Nijmegen in 2006, Stefanie worked as researcher at the University of the West of England, Bristol (1998-2006), and on secondment to the UK ministry for spatial planning as Contact Point for INTERREG IIIB North West Europe Programme on transnational cooperation on spatial planning (2002-2003). Prior to moving to Britain, she worked in the European Commission, DG Regio (1998).
Stefanie Dühr’s research draws on literature from the fields of urban and regional planning, human and economic geography, cartography, policy sciences and governance studies. Most of her work is policy-oriented and qualitative, with a main focus on strategic spatial planning. Her research interests cover the following topics:
1) Comparative spatial planning, national planning systems, urban and regional policies and planning instruments
2) Multi-level governance and territorial cooperation on spatial planning (metropolitan, cross-border and transnational)
