As Dean of Programs (Creative), Veronika leads the academic quality, performance and reputation of UniSA Creative's undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Veronika is deeply committed to academic excellence, an industry-engaged curriculum and a strong teaching-research-practice nexus.
Veronika's experience spans higher education, academic leadership and design practice. Her research focuses on visual communication design, design as a practice for wellbeing, critical and social design, typography, and design education, and is published internationally. Veronika is Deputy Chair of the Australian Council of University Art and Design Schools (ACUADS) Executive Board, an Advisory Board Member of the international journal Art, Design and Communication in Higher Education, and member of the international Design Research Society (DRS). She has received international and national recognition for her work in higher education with an OLT Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning, UniSA Citation, and International Society of Typographic Designers Tutor Awards.
In 2017, Veronika activated and led the establishment of a Communication Design Educators Network (CDEN) in collaboration with program directors and design educators representing over 20 universities from across Australia and with support from ACUADS. The CDEN is an open platform for sharing best practice in scholarship and research to advance design education, research and practice, and is open to design academics at all stages of their careers.
Veronika's qualifications include a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication), Bachelor of Education (Inservice), and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of South Australia.
